Guys... who's in the mood for a bit of George Harrison?  :)

I have been working on this song forever, it seems, and find it very difficult... it's a busy piece, really.  But I thought I'd have a go and record what I have thus far, especially since Helen's been looking for this one for some time.  I have tried to do an appreciable job of it.  I'm trying, George... I swear!

All -

Connie posted this in her J, but I have added it here as well. This is the first time that Connie has played piano for us. Here, she offers a lovely cover performance of Ashitaka to San from the animated fantasy feature film Princess Mononoke.

Hi, all!

I have been meaning to do a little recording for you on the Seagull MJ, and as promised, I managed to do that today. Getting a listenable recording was characteristically challenging for me, but sadly, not as challenging as trying to remove the background noise; every time I tried to normalize the recording or remove the ambient noise, the guitar's voice was altered. That defeats the purpose of the instrument and the music.  I need to use it more and learn it.

Anyway, this piece has always been one of my favorites. I'm learning a version of it in which the meter of the second verse gets doubled to 8th notes and I still find it hard, so for this recording there's still a bit of that, but I took some creative liberties and improvised a little with some little arpeggiated and chordal bits that I hope enhance the mood of the piece while still honoring the beautiful melody.

David Gates' "If"

 Hi, all...

I finally got around to getting another short taste of a piece recorded. As with most of the pieces I have been recording, it would normally be longer, but at this juncture it's very hard for me to get through an intro, verse, chorus, and closure with any listenable quality, and the pieces I'm working on are so technically challenging for me that I have to record them in phrases. So I always hold my breath and hope the net product is somewhat respectable, as they are always "works in progress".

Sor's Estudio #6, Op.35

 Hi, all!

Well, I just thought that before I undertake the medley of material I'm working on, or try to record any more individual pieces, I'd share with you a little classical study that I have been working on for about two years.  Amazingly, it's only about two minutes long, but I find it so difficult to play from start to finish without error that I had to record it in phrases. It's also a difficult little piece to play expressively. To me, there seems to be a lot going on in this piece... challenging left hand stretches, barres, partial barres, traversing the full neck, and a busy right hand as well. After all this time, I'm still nowhere near there yet.

Okay, guys... :)

I finally got this done, after having been fooling with it for over two years. I recorded it with Audacity - my first time using it - and I am no expert. But I normalized it and removed some room noise, so hopefully it will be okay for you.

Before I point you to the music, let me bore you with this piece's background. :grin
